Guardian Home Program

We are starting an exciting new Guardian Home Program for our Poms!  Guardian homes ensure that we are able to keep the number of adult dogs in our own home low, so that they can each receive the attention and care they deserve, plus it allows us to expand and improve our lines, all the while providing each breeding dog with a forever family from the very start.

Our approved guardian families must live within a 1.5 hour drive from Redding, CA. so that we can pick up and drop off the dog for health tests, breedings, pregnancy confirming ultrasounds, and whelping at our home.

As a guardian home family, you will get a pick-of-the-litter puppy, with the adoption fee waived (free).  You will be responsible for their normal pet expenses which will include their remaining puppy shots & deworming, monthly grooming, adult yearly exams, non-breeding related planned or emergency vet visits, vaccinations, and heartworm prevention.  We will cover all breeding related expenses (OFA health tests, EMBARK genetic tests, ultrasounds, emergency c-section if needed, their retirement spay/neuter, transportation to and from these appointments, and all food and grooming when they are visiting our home).

When your Pomeranian has passed all of his/her health exams and is the appropriate age for breeding (1 year for males, 2 years for females) they will be begin their work in our program.

For males this means the dog will stay with us for about a week or so to breed one of our females, after which they will come back to your home.  When they are all done being a sire in our program, we will pay for their neuter and they will live out the rest of their lives as your pet :)

For females, this means they will come to our home for breeding (they stay with us for about a week), for a pregnancy confirming ultrasound (a few hours),  and for whelping about 10 days before their due date (they stay with us until the puppies are weaned - usually around 8-10 weeks total).  After 4 litters, or 6 years of age (whichever comes first) we will pay for her spay and she will live out the rest of her life as your pet :)

Yates Pomeranians retains exclusive breeding rights to the dogs in our guardian homes.  It is the responsibility of the guardian home family to keep the intact male or female from accidentally breeding outside of our program.  This means you must have a secure and safe yard for them to play in, and no other intact (un-neutered or un-spayed) dogs in your home.

You will need to feed your Pomeranian the same dog food that we do (Diamond Naturals brand) in order to avoid any stomach upset when they come to visit us.

Your puppy will be co-owned with us,  but will be AKC registered under our name until they retire and are spayed or neutered, at which time we will transfer the AKC registration and ownership solely to your family.  This simplifies the process of registering their puppies :)
